Dentures

Absolute Dental Vancouver dentist

Dentures are an easy-to-use solution for replacing missing teeth.

The majority of people lose their teeth due to dental caries, injury or gum condition. Whatever the reason for losing one’s teeth, it must not be a permanent condemnation to living a life of misery. Replacing missing teeth offers one an elevated sense of self-confidence and restores a healthy smile with optimal capabilities.

Here is a short, descriptive list of the varying types of dentures available for you:

Upper and Lower Dentures

Full or ‘complete’ dentures are used by clients who are missing all their teeth in either maxillary (upper) or mandibular (lower) arch.

A patient who is missing all their teeth in both arches will have a pair of total dentures.

Implant-retained dentures

An implant-retained denture makes use of direct connections to titanium abutments which are incorporated into the bony tissue. They conquer the instability and absence of retention of a typical complete denture.

Implant-retained dentures are relatively affordable when compared to more advanced types of implant restoration such as crowns, but they are extremely effective. Being detachable, an implant-retained denture is simple to clean and care for, thus minimizing future expenditures.

Partial Dentures

Partial dentures are suitable for individuals who have some of their own teeth and need a denture to fill the gaps. There is a wide variety of colours and shapes of teeth and our Vancouver denture dentist, Dr. Kelly Jordan, can match your partial denture with your remaining natural teeth to a tee.

Overdentures

An overdenture is a removable denture that fits over a small number of remaining natural teeth or implants. The natural teeth should be prepared to supply stability and support for the denture. Our Victoria Drive dental team can figure out if an overdenture would be suitable for you.

Soft liners

If you’re unable to find a suitable level of comfort with any of the conventional denture varieties discusses above, you might want to consider soft liner dentures.

Soft liners are a medical-grade soft polymer product applied to the tissue-fitting surface area of your tough denture base. Soft liners act like a shock-absorbing cushion when you are chewing. Soft liners can be applied to brand-new dentures or existing dentures with a reline and rebase treatments.

With careful home-care cleaning, soft liners have an average lifespan of two to 4 years depending upon the physiology of the patient.

Soft liners are appropriate for:

Regardless of the denture variety that you choose, it is crucial to keep your dentures clean on a daily basis and to maintain good dental and personal health. We recommend that you clean your dentures using a soft brush and a liquid cleaner, such as soap and water or a denture-specific cleaning fluid. Brush both sides, inside and out to make sure you are removing any germs. You may also soak your denture in water when you take them out in the evening.
